Presentations 2Go introduces new educational possibilities with
'Rich Media Tagging'
Enhance and enrich weblectures

In 2010, Learning Valley did research together with University of applied sciences Utrecht into ‘Live Tagging’ applications in combination with rich media web lectures. This enables students to make online tags (notes) on mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads or netbooks, etc. during a lecture. Using clever, innovative technology, the positions of these tags are accurately linked to the teacher’s presentation slides.
When the lecture is over, the notes can be seen on the time-line for the web lecture or webcast recorded using Presentations 2Go. This enhances and enriches the content.
With the new release of Presentations 2Go, teachers and students can now also add notes retrospectively when viewing a web lecture. Presentations 2Go makes a distinction between ‘moderators’ (teachers) and ‘audience’ (students). Moderators have extra possibilities. They can introduce command ‘tags’ which can be responded to. In this case, the video recording pauses and an optional link automatically opens in a separate window. The ‘assignment tags’ that are handed in are only visible to group moderators. It’s also possible to enable students to react to each other’s notes.
When watching the web lecture again, notes can be filtered using keywords and downloaded in HTML format. This means they can be utilised usefully within existing learning environments or locally.

With the new release of Presentations 2Go, teachers and students can now also add notes retrospectively when viewing a web lecture. These notes can be public or private. An important benefit of the new release is that students (as well as teachers) can make their notes in a secure environment.

Educational scenarios
Educational scenarios
New educational scenarios are made possible by the introduction of rich media tagging. For example:
- Enrichment of a web lecture with additional notes and hyperlinks from teachers
- Time-independent responses or the asking of questions on the Presentations 2Go time-line, e.g. in combination with short information clips
- Execute commands whereby the web lecture automatically pauses, such as for a ‘response tag’ or a reference to an external learning or testing environment
- Online assessment and coaching of students
- Allow students to assess each other’s videos
- Download notes and place them in an e-learning environment
- Process notes in the classic way
These applications and scenarios are not only available for web lectures.
Teachers and students can also add tags to traditional video recordings.
Benefits

- Live Tagging

Make notes in real-time on your mobile phone
Many students complain that finding content in a web lecture or presentation is time-consuming. With Live Tagging by Presentations 2Go, this is a thing of the past.
Presentations 2Go enables students to make online tags (notes) while following a lecture or presentation on mobile devices such as an iPhone, iPad or netbook, etc. Using clever, innovative technology, the positions of these tags are accurately linked to the teacher’s presentation slides. When the lecture is over, the notes are visible on the time-line from the web lecture or webcast recorded using Presentations 2Go. This enhances and enriches the content.
How does it work?
Students and teachers can make interactive contributions to lectures and web seminars easily using Live Tagging.
With Presentations 2Go, students can also use their mobile phones or laptops to share tags with fellow students or teachers. When watching the recordings, they can see their own or fellowstudents’ or teacher’s notes on a time-line which indicates the moment they were created in the lecture. It’s also possible to scroll through the tags to look up, display or play that point of the lecture. This enables them to easily find the content they are looking for in the web lectures so they can use their time more efficiently. These tags can also easily be used to enhance the web lectures. Using a tag-cloud, you can find the parts of the web lectures where the content you are looking for is located. The (filtered) notes can also be downloaded in HTML format for personal use so they can easily be used to enhance existing learning environments.
